Cardinal Gibbons, of Baltimore, m a letter to the Anti-Suffragist Association, deprecated female suffrage, and pleading for the dignity of woman. He' said the powerful influence exercised by a sensible matron over her sons and husband amounted to voting by proxy. Men rarely failed to follow the counsel derived from inspiration rather than la bored reasoning.
