STRANGE SUICIDES.

AX UNIDENTIFIED BODY. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. On the. afternoon of. ; Sunday a week back the body of a, radii of apparently 1 35 years of age was found behind the Y.M.G.A. buildings m Wellesley street East. It was revealed by the post mortem that the man. had died of. lysol poisoning, which was corroborated by the finding beside the body of a bottle containing lysol. The only identification marks about the body and clothing consisted of the initial "J" tattooed on the left arm, the initial "M" on the shirt, and a- letter of recommendation made out m the initials "J.M." The imial police methods of identification were followed, and it is now reported that finger impressions taken from the hand of deceased ;^gree with those of a man known to the police as James Moore. Moore had a wife and two children, who are believed to be m Wanganui. WANGANUI, this day. Moore was at one time a cleaner at the local post-oflice, but Last year was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for a series of thefts from the mail- > room. The term expired about six I weeks ago. UHRIST.CHURCH, last night.I A married woman named Mary Jane 1 [ Thomas, 28 years of age, committed suicide at her residence, St. Martin's, this morning. She had been, despondent ■lately. This morning a neighbor went to the house after deceased's husband left for work, but found the doors locked. The husband was communicated with, and he broke into the house arid found the deceased had. hanged herself to the handle of the bedroom door. A verdict was returned of suicide whilst of unsound mind. Evidence at the inquest on the body; of Reginald Irving Johnston, who committed suicide at the Gladstone hotel yesterday, disclosed certificates of membership* of. the United Commercial Travellers' Association of Australasia, and disclosed further the fact that he travelled for Messrs T. L,. Elliott and Company, of Birmingham. A letter showed that deceaseds private address was Elizabeth street, Melbourne. He seemed to be about 36 or 37 years of age. There was nothing m his possession, to indicate why he committed tho act. The Coroner returned a verdict of "Suicide by cutting the throat/ there being no evidence to, show 1 deceased's state of mind at the' time."'
