The Post understands that the Government propose to purchase the Oroua Dowxs estate, Manawatu. The close season for seals has been extended to 30th June, 1902. Any person taking wals during the close season is liable to a penalty of £500. In the opinion of Mr John Anderson— , expressed m the Arbitration Court— it would be a rational disaster if the number of apprentices was limited m the iron trade. The boys were given indentures for five year*, which would carry them all over the world. Andersons foundry had turned out many first-class lads, who had done -.-ell, and was still turning them out. Young colonials were like boys of other countries, acd, while many made firstclass workmen, some, of course, were difficult to deal with. *
