The. race was. as usual, full of incident, and only seven of the competitors ultimately finished. John M.P. fell at the ditch before
Valentine's Brook the first time round, and at this point Kior also came to grief, being knocked down by a riderless hoise. Oatlands and Timothy Titus ther went on almost level, but the latteT fell at Beecher's Brook, and a mile from home Ascetic's Silver took the lead. The last-named made the rest of the running, and won very easily by 10 lengths, in 9min 34 2-ssec. The winner, who was ridden by his trainer, Mr Hastings, was well backed by his connections, but was but light'y supported by the public.
