Mahlabatini is a small Magistracy in Zululard South Africa, containing about 12 European males and two females. It is situated about 30 miles from Dinizulu's chief kraal at the Urn Bululwane, and about 9 miles from the old battlefield of Ulundi. where Cetewayo was defeated by Chelmsford. It would be in this vicinity that the natives fired on the Magistrate's party. The natives would probably belong to N'gobazani's tribe.
