Country Sales. — Th« Otago Farmers' Cooperative Association of New Zealand (Ltd.) report; We held our usual monthly sale, of ' sheep and cattle at our yards, close to Palmerston on Monday, when there was a good muster of farmers from all parts of the district, and a few northern dealers. Competition was fairly good for all clqfsps of stock at about the same values quoted Tecently. We yarded 130 head of cattle, comprising bteers, cows, heifers, yearlings, and calves, and a complete clearance was made of the whole yarding at satisfactory price?. We penned 250 cross lambs. The Otago Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association of New Zealand report: We held a clearing sale of dairy stock and plant for Mr John Barrowman (Broadacres) at his homestead on Tuesday. The vender's lease of the faTro having expired, the whole of his offering, in consequence, was for positive sale. The settlers in the district being well aware of Mr Barrowman's decision to relinquish dairy farming, made a good muster, and, with the full intention of helping their much respected neighbour to a good wind up, bid well for every lot offered,, and -th© result was that fair prices were obtained, notwithstanding the fact that most of the cows were spring carvers, and not in an immediate profitable condition. The young stock also sold well, as did dairy utensils and implements. Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and 'Co. (Ltd.) report having held their usual monthly sale at Palmerston on Monday, when they yarded a Large entry of both sheep and cattle. The attendance was good, being made up principally of farmers from the enrrounding district, with a. few northern dealers. The sale throughout was a very dragging one, and to effect sales slightly lower prices had to be accepted.
