May 11.— Messrs R. H. Thurlow and Co. have "made a first-class job of our new PublicHall, and ou the 4th inst. nearly 200 people turned out to the opening concert and ball Mr R. M'Skimming was in the chair, r~after an appropriate speech, declared -tlw opeu. *L"he following performers contnT to a capital programme : —Mrs E. C. Cu t i. Miss Black, Miesea M'Lean (2), Mis* Jones, Miss Ivj Kennedy. Miss Guffie, and Messrs A. G. "CreTar, Herlihy, M'Dowell, Black, M'Neill, Uren, and Rev. H. Williams. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Cutten and Misses Herlihy, Black, and M'Le.an. Mr W. Pearce acted as M.C. at the dance which followed.
