PRESENTATION TO MR DUGALD M'PHERSON.

The many valuable services rendered by 3lt Dugald M'Pherson to the New Zealand Commercial^ Travellers' and Warehousemen's Association, extending over a number of year 3, were fittingly recognised on Monday evening, when .hat gen + leman was presented with ahandsome suit case, suitably inscribed, as a token of the esteem and respect in which he was held. Mr It. Hudson (piesident of the association) occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance of members. In making the presentation ilr Hudson referred in eulogistic terms to the excellent services rendered by Mr M'Pherson both as an officebearer and as a member. The speaker referred particularly to the fact that Mr M'Pherson had acted for many years as the association's representative at the annual conferences of the United Association, and to the able manner in which he had advocated the cause of the New Zealand Association on such occasions. In responding. Mr M'Pherson mentioned that he had achieved a record by attending five consecutive conferences of the United Association. He had l»een in office as committeeman, vice-president, and president of the New Zealand Association for the paat 18 years— which was also a record. The speaker then gave a very intere a ting resume of the business transacted at the conference at Adelaide The United Association having become incorporated, the work was more easily carried on, and there wps noi. so much subject matter for discussion a3 there had been in former years. Mr M'Plierson also referred to the successful career of The Australasian Traveller since it had become the official organ of the United Association. The Christmas publication—" Australia To-day "—had been such a phenomenal euccess that it had been decided to issue it annually. The next number is to be devoted to the publication til New Zealand matter and it will be entitled " Australia Today aud New Zealand." In referring to " The Australasian Traveller." Mr M'Pherson mentioned that the profits from the paper were to be distributed amongst the various affiliated associations in proportion to the number of subscribers and* the business done in each State In concluding, the speaker made complimentary reference to the warm hospitality extended to him both in Melbourne and Adelaide,
