Bowlers assembled in strong force on the Green Island Bowling Club's Green on Saturday, the day fixed for the first match to be played by the City Clubs against the Oiubs in Taieri County, but shortly after the gam« had conini&nced play had to be discontinued on account of the steady descent of rain. The country teams played a sound game, and at the eleventh head, on the completion of which piay ceased, were only a, dozen points behind the strong city combination. At the carnival in the evening Mr Mark Sinclair congraUilated the Green Island Club on the fine order in which the green was this season. He considered it one of the best in the distiict. The match will m all probability be finished on one of the oity greens on a date to bo fixed.
