MESSRS PAYNE AND PECK'S PATENT ELEVATOR AT WORK ON NGAPARA DREDGE, ALEXANDRA. Bef ore the Ngapara dredge was fitted with the patent elevator she had a tray elevator of 20 centres, and was blocked by her tailings- now with this patent she has 40ft of clear water behind her stern. The tailings heap in the photo is one formed by the patent, which Is one o{ M \>-ji/>.hen, photo. very small dimensions, running at a speed of 240 revolutions per minute, the beaters measuring 38 inches from tip to tip.
