Country Sales. — The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report Having held their usual fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Friday last, 22nd inst. The entry was not as large a one as usual, which may just have been as well, as sheep were by no means easy to quit, there being very few buyers. Neither were cattle quite as brisk as during the last six weeks or so, although selling at very fair prices even yet. Feed remains scarcer than* usual at this season of the year, and few people have more grass than they have sheep for. Messrs Dalgety and Company (Limited) report having held their fortnightly sale at Balclutha on Friday the 22nd inst. There was a fair entry of sheep and a very large entry of cattle, the greater number of which were yearlings to two-year-olds. Sheep met with a fair inquiry, and nearly the whole yarding found buyers at fair prices. There was rather less demand for cattle, but all that were not reserved at too high a figure found buyers at fair market rates. Fpt sheep brought 16s to 17s 9d ; crossbred hoggets, 103 6d to 12s 6d ; steei"3, £5 to £& 10s; yearlings, £2 5s to £2 10s.

Sheepskins.— At this week's sales large catalogues were offeied, and the attendance of buyers was small ; consequently competition was very dull, and prices suffered a considerable decline. Best dry merinos sold at equal to about 4d per Jb, other merinos, 3d to Oid; best diy haifbreds, up to about 3d per lb; best crossbreds and inferior haifbreds, 2\d to 2Jd per lb ; othei sorts, from 2d to 2UI per lb. Large portions of .some catalogues were passed unsold.

Rabbitskiii* — Co ] < M<r-irme:-'t« of these of late have been reduced, the bulk of those conimg forwaid recently being medium and inferior quality. Consequently prices at late sales aie showing a slight decline, though competition continues good for ail classes fully up to quotations. Giauu— 3tfl«At: $ho &W&U.& fox *U classes;

Recently the demand for these has fallen, off considerably, the few consignments coming forward appaiently being sufficient to fill immediate requirements. Inquiries are few, and? prices slightly easier. Quotations aTe: Prime nulling, 2s 4d to 2s sd; best feed, 2s 3d to 2s 4d; ordinary, 2s 2d to 2s 3d (sacks extra).
