WOODS IDE.
December 2.— A concert in aid of the West Taieri School prize fund was held in the old schoolhouse, Woodside, on the evening of November 22. The weather being fine, there was a laige attendance, and the room was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Mr Wm. Snow, of Ouliam. occupied 1 the chair, and a very fair programme of vocal and instrumental anusic, along with lecitations, was gone through. Songs were well rendered by Miss Miller (who presided at the piano), also ..Mrs Johnston ajid Misses Cuthbert and JKenipshell, also by Messrs Johnston, Davit?, Jackson, T. A. Finlav, and others; instrumental duet (piano and violin) by Miss Cut-h-liert and Mr A. M'Diarmid; and recitations by ■Miss Heckler and Mr J. Hunter; also several bagpipe selections performed in an able manner by Mr D. Biuce. A vote of thanks to the performers, some of whom came from, a distance, was proposed by Mr A. M'Diarmid; also a vote of thanks to the chairman by Mr T. A. Finlav, the proceedings being brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem.
