The holidays have interfered somewhat with the general business on 'Change, and as there has been a considerable amount of rain, and the weather is still threatening and the river somewhat higher (9ft ]oin), stocks, with few exception<=, have not advanced m price. The exceptions leferred to are Rise and Shines, Royal Maoris, and Pactoiusea. The=e have risen steadily, and show indications of a still further advance. This is not a matter for surprise, considering the return of 87ioz from the Royal Maori, and the return of 103oz froni ihe Pactolus. There were a number of sales in Bend)goes in the afternoon at 12s and 12s 3d, finishing with buyers 12s 3d, sellers 12s 6d. Tlieie were pales in Dunstan Leads at 5s and 4s 6d, with a further buyer offering 4s 6d ; seller 5% 3d. In the morning there v.-eie «ales in Endeavours at 13s, 13s 3d, and 13s Cd. with further buyers at 13s 6d; sellers 13s 9d. In the afternoon there was a sale at 14=, the closing quote for the day being buyers 14s, s=elleis 14s 6d. Enterprises have firmed with buyers at 27s 6d; seller 295. First Chances were sold at 7s and 6s 9d in the morning, with further buyers at 6s 6d ; sellers 7s ; and this quote was maintained m the afternoon. In the morning there were buyers of Golden Rivers at 7s, sellers asking 7& 3d; and in the afternoon sales took

place at 7s, the shares being still offered at that price; buyers 6s lOJd. Golden Suits were inquired for at 19s, sellers asking 22s 6d. There was a buyer of Halfway Houses at 17s 6d. This has reference to the nrw issue (contributing), which includes one paid-up share to each of the others. There was -a number of sales of Leviathans at Is, with further buyers at 9d ; sellers Is 9d. That was in the morning, and in the afternoon buyers were offering Is ; sellers Is 9d. Mont© Christos were offered at 28s, with a buyer 27s 9d, in the morning, and in the afternoon they were still offered at 28s ; buyers 275. Pactoluses were Bold at 27s 6d p. in the afternoon, with more shares offering at 28s; buyer 265. Point dOr were inquired for iv the morning at la 9d discount ; seller 3d discount. In the afternoon there were buyers at Is discount; sellers 6d discount. Eight shillings has been called up, which leaves, after paying for the Maori dredjje, a consideiable sum in hand, which should be amply sufficient to test the claim. Should the claim not prove payable and the company go into liquidation, no further cails are to be mads. The company hase something like 33 chains of river between the Royal Maori and Rise and Shine properties. Rise and Shines in the morning were sought after at 14s 6d ; sellers 15s 6d. In the afternoon there was a sale at 15s 9d, with further transactions at 16s, buyers still offering 16s ; sellers 16s 3d. A parcel of Prince Alberts changed hands at 4s 6d, and River Molyneuxs were sold in the afternoon at 7s. Royal Maoris changed hands in the morning at 27s 3d, 28s, and 28s 3d, with further buyers at 28s 3d; sellers 295. In the afternoon there were several sales at 295, further buyers offering 28s 9d; sellers 295.

The quote for Alpine Extendeds was buyers 23 9d, sellers 3s 9d, and for Keep-it-Darks, buyer 255.
