DEPUTATION TO SIR J. G. WARD.
! EXHIBITS FOR POULTRY SHOTVS. Mr S. Myers, Mr C. Lucas, and Mr A. Smith (of Christchurch). representing 1$ poultry associations with a membership of 1500, were introduced to Sir Joseph Ward "by Mr Arnold on Saturday morning. They asked for a restoration of the old privileges ' of allowing poultry intended for sliov.s ,to be 1 delivered at a station within half an hcv | of the starting- of a train and then to be \ sent by a speedy train. At present poultry j had to be delivered the nitrht before, and went on by a, slow train. The deputation also asked that poultry societies should' have the same privilege as agricultural ■ societies of sending an attendant at excur- ' sioii rates. J Sir Joseph said that half an hour would i not give the railway men time to make up ' a train. If everybody come along half aa I hour beforehand and wanted a train made • up again the hands could not do it. i- Mr Myers: Make it an hour, then. ! Sir Joseph : I will look into the matte? '< and see what can be done
