LAND BOARD.

The meeting of the Land Board on Wednesday was attended by the Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Maitiandi and Messrs Clark, Dallas, and Duncan.

S. B. Paterson wrote re road thiough section 14, block XI, Greenvale, to give access to his coal pit in block VII. — Referred to Clutha County Council for consideration.

The Warden reported on application to purchase by Henry Hagen small portion of land on noith-west side of section 31, block X, Waitahuna East. — To be allowed to purchase at £2 10s per acre, survey fees to be lodged. Alexander M'Gregor applied for license to occupy river reserve fronting sections 1 and 34, block XI, town of Kelso. — Yearly license granted at 5s rental, with the usual license fee.

Ranger Atkinson having rejiorted upon sections 2, 3, and 4, block VIII, Blackstone, lately held as a small grazing run by G. A. Clarke, it was resolved to reopen the land as a. small grazing run at a rental of 5d per acre. Martin Franklin applied to exchange his occupation license over 10 acres in block VI, Tuapeka West, for a lease in perpetuity, or an occupation lease. — Occupation lease agreed to if duly advertised as required by the act. The following applications were approved: — For transfer of small grazing run from David Dickson to James Cussach, section 10, block XII, Glenkemch. For setting aside reserve lying between sections 2 and 4, block 111, Tomahawk, and the lagoon, as a gravel reserve, at the request of the clerk of the Tomahawk Road Boaid. For purchase of section 7, block X, Leaning Rock, by A. C. Broad. For section G, block IV, Woodland, on 0.R.P., by Robert Crawford. To purchase section 54, block IX, Glenoruaru, Margaret E. Eason. To transfer section 8, block VII, Gimmerburn. from Miss Agnes M'Lonnan to Mrs Margaret M'Lennan. For section 10, block XII, Tautuku, in Waipati improved settlement, John Johnston.

The following applications were referred to the ranger to report: — To surrender section 9, block I, Tiger Hill, John Sheehan ; section 23, block VI, Woodland, Alexander M'Lennan; section 3, block IV, Woodland, Andrew Miller.

After consideration of the ranger's report upon small grazing runs expiring in 1900, being section 10, block VIII, Waikouaiti, held by Peter Kane, and section 1, block VII, same distiict, held by Ann J. Scott, it was resolved to offer new lease to lessees in terms of section 200 of '• The Land Act, 1885." at a rental of B}d net acre for the former, and Is per acre for the latter section.

An application to transfer section 82, block 11, Oamaru (Ardgowan estate), from Elizabeth West to Jas. West; and section 8, Tokorahi estate, and section 18, block I, Kurow, from Wni. Rayne to James John Orv, were recommended for the Minister's approval.

fleoige Gaudin applied for GO acres of unsurveyed land on Run No. 99, Islakarora. — It was resolved to confirm granting of the application by the Canterbury Land Board, and 12 months' notice of resumption be given to Malcolm Campbell.

The Warden reported on the application by Jas. Dugan to be allowed to acquire sections 42 and 45, block I, Naaeby. To be notified that the board does not see its way to give a better title in the meantimp.

The Receiver of La7id Revenue reported that D. Murray, whose lease in perpetuity 11], Village homestead, was declared forfeited, had now paid all arrears. — Forfeiture rescinded accordingly.

H. M'Maatcr wrote ro rental charged him fo_- license to occupy reserve between section 17, block 111, Woodland and Catlins Lake. — Rent to be charged at 5s in place of 15s previously paid.
