■May 25. — In spite of the inclement state of the weather a very pleasant little social gp4hering was held in our schoolroom yesterday in honour of her Majesty's eightieth birthday. Songs, recitations, and dancing were the order '.of the evening, and were kept up with spirit /bill after midnight. Miss C. Jones presided at the piano, and songs, were contributed by Mrs 'Hobson, Miss Monson, the Misses Watson, [Messrs Lacey and Bowling; recitations by Miss Fletcher and Mr Cook; and Mr Kenneth (M'DonakT "acted as M.C. After partaking of •light refreshments provided by the ladies, the company joined in singing the national anthem, ;which brought the entertainment to a close, leveryone having thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
