SOUTHLAND PRODUCE MARKET:
INVERCARGILL, May 27.
Considerable excitement continues in tha local oat market, and prices have slightly advanced. There is nothing in the* outside markets to warrant the advance, and it is held that it is only strong competition between buyers "" locally and ifi Dunedin that is having the effect of strengthening the market. The demand, continues strong /or shipment to Australia,' and the tupphes coming forwards are not more than - sufficient to meet orders for immediate shipment. The general impression seems to be that prices will come back unless unforeseen demands arise in Australia. Present quotations 1 are Is 2d to Is 2Jd (saoks extra, on trucks up country), according to sample and distance from port.
