Three months' bills are discounted at 2\ per cent. Consols, 110. Quotations for colonial Government stocks are subjoined, compared with those ruling at the close of last week : —

The Wheat Market.— The English and Continental markets are quiet and steady, while the American is a shade lower. Cargoes per County of Pembroke were sold at 28s 9d, and per Hugh Molwar at 28s lOJid. Steamer parcels (March shipment) are offering at 28s ; prompt shipments at 27s 6d.

Sugar is dull. Java, 13s 3d ; German, 11s 3d.

The Metal Markets. — Copper is firm ; on the spot, £77 15s; three months, £76 ss. Tin is active ; on the spot, £118 2s 6d; three months, £118 7s 6d. Pig iron is quoted at 63s 6d. Lead : Soft foreign, £18 2s 6d; spelter, £28 10s.

Silver is quoted at 28£ d per ounce.

The Bradford wool market is quiet. Tops, common sixties, 24£ d; ditto, superior, 26d.

Colonial rabbits are dull of sale at B^d.

The Papanui's consignment of 1 apples arrived in good condition, and sold at prices ranging from 8s 6d to 12s 6d.

Frozen Meat. — Mutton : Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes — Canterbury, 4 3-16 d; Dunedin and Southland are not quoted ; North Island, 3|d. Lamb : Prime Canterbury, 5 7-16 d; fair average (including Dunedin, Southland, Wellington, and secondary Canterbury, 5 3-16 d. River Plate crossbred or merino wethers — heavy 31d, light 3§d.
