ABOUT THE AUTHOR OF "IN HIS STEPS."
The Rev. Charles M. Sheldon is author of "In His Steps," "The Crucifixion of Philip Strong," etc., etc., and his fame is now worldwide, and his books are perhaps more widely_ read than thoee of any living author. '" In His Steps " has been translated into seven different languages already, and is being sold in millions.
It seems not unlikely that by means of these books Mr Sheldon may do for the drink traffic what Mrs Harriet Beecher Stowe did for American slavery. Mr Sheldon is not a mere writer of fiction, but a man of deep convictions and high ideals, and holds that Christians when confronted with any problem in religion, politics, or business should first ask what would Jesus do under such circumstances, and then do it, regardless of consequences. Mr Sheldon, when he went to Topeka. 11 years ago, was not in favour of prohibition, but of High License. His experience, however, of the great advantages of prohibition had fully convinced him of its superiority as a remedial force, and now by voice and pen he is wielding a mighty influence in its favour, and against tho traffic. — Alliance News.
