Monday Afternoon

Last Tuesday evening a most delightful dance was given by Mrs Henry Williams at her residence in Eglinton, when about 60 young people were present. The party was given by Mrs Williams in honour of her sons, Mr Claude and Mr Carl, who are spending a holiday in town. Unfortunately, the weather was most unfavourable, the night being cold, wet, and boisterous. However, the disturbing elements outside mattered little to thegay dancers within, where all was bright ana* warm. Mrs Williams received her guests in the drawing room, and the young people speedily found their way to the dining room, which had been prepared for dancing, the floor being excellent, and Mr Yates playing in his usual inspiriting monner. Later on supper was served in the morning room, where the table was prettily airanged with tinted chrysanthemums.

Amongst those present, in addition to Mr and Mrs Williams, Mi- Claude, Mr Leslie, Mr Carl, and little Miss Violet •'Williams, were the Misses Rattray, Miss Bathgate, Miss Mary Williams, Miss Conny Williams. Notwithstanding the vory wintry night, over 100 young people were ' present, and all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The following evening another dance was _' given in Invercargill by Mrs Tucker at her residence, Coldstream. The night was an ; ideal one for a danee — clear and cold, with a brilliant moon — and the guests spent a ' nicsl delightful evening.
