London, May 17. The lots offer&a at the wool sales were cbiefly wa«ty crosebreds. Competition was good and prices unchanged. May 19. The, wool sales closed firm. Prices were unchanged. I During the eeriea of colonial wool sales just closed, 188.500 bales were catalogued, of which 100,000 were sold for the Home markets, and 76,000 for tbe Continent. Medium and faulty sorts practically recovered from the decline they experienced at the opening of the sales. The Now Zealand Loan&nd Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received tba following cable from their London office: — "Wool —The sales closed firmly this day. Since close of last sales super, medium, and inferior greasy and scoured merino, medium and inferior washed merino, fine washed &zA scoured crossbred, and medium greasy crossbred are par to £A per lb lower ; medium washed and scoured en/sabred, coarse g«'aay, washed and scoured snd greaqy crossbred, and greasy crossbred lambs are £d per lb lower ; other descriptions unchanged. The total quantity sold during tbe past sales is 168,000 balas, of which 76,000 bales have been taken for the Contineut and nil for America. It is estimated that 39,000 bales have been held over for future dispoa&l."
