Morningbon losing the toss, M'Don&ld kicked off, and started a rush towards the Rangers' goal, which was well checked by Midd!einiss, who kicked well down the field, where Muir obtained possession, and placed nicely bftwri'en the po&ta. The Blacks-then teltled down to work, aad 'gave the'Morningtpti backs a lively time ' defending', but on account of the long grass were some time before they could again get in the lead, which thpy did eventually, however, the score again coming from Muir, who vsas playing a really good game. Wo goal was recorded from this on to within a few seconds of half time, when the Hill men sgain invaded and scored. In the second spell, which was thus begun with both teams on even terms, the pky was mostly confined to Mornington territory, and but for the good defence of Lang, thft score mint have been greater than it was. M'Donald and his inner wing men also played hard, starting nanny good rushes, which were, however, stopped each lime by the good play of Gilbert, Middlemiss, O'Connor, and M'Lelland. After a considerable amount of unrewarded energy the Ringers were given % penalty kick which was taken by M'l.elland, who uat'ely steered the ball through^ After the kick-off the Mornington were sgain put on' the defensive, and managed to keep tbe Blacks cut lor a time, bub at length Harrop added to the score with a good 1 aD'gulfir shot. Nob loz;g after this another goal was added by Dobbie, and this proved to be the fiu»l sqcre. Other players worthy of mention were Anderson (Mornington), and Petere, Lawsoni and North (Rangers). Mr Simons controlled the play in a satisfactory manner. Score : Rangers ... 5 goals Mormngton ... 2 goal?
