NORTHERN v. MILTON.
Both the First and the Second Fifteens of the Mil ton and Northern Football Clnbs tried conclusions en the North ground yesterday, and in each instance there was a win for the home team. Mr Ritohie refereed. The Second Fifteens met aboub mid-day, and the Northern ran up a score of 8 points (goal from a try and goal from a penalty kick) as against Milton's 3 points (goal from a penalty kiok). For the home toam Sparrow placed the goal from the penalty kick and subsequently ecored the try which Mason converted. J. Comber placed a good goal from a. penalty kick for the visitors. The First Fifteen then tried conclusions in the presence of a goodly number of spectator?, Mr Harris controlling the game. The home town was slightly heavier than their opponents, but tha keen game anticipated was fully realised, a wlo resulting for the Northern by 8 points (* 'u-f s.Kd a. gval) to 4 points (goal from a mark). forwards, Hinchdiffe, Comber, aod Lynch were prominent ; while among the backs Archer, Draper, and Grant pub iv serviceable"" work. The pick of the Northern men were Kay, Troansori, Peake, and Pollard, Patrick, J. M'D3nald, Stewart, and Kinder.
