LAND BOARD.

The weekly meetiug of the Land Board, held on Wednesday, wasattended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), H. Clark, W. Dallas, and H. H. Kilpatrick.

Puketapu.— An application by Mr John Chisholm to have section 8, Puketapu estate, grouped with section 10, already held by him, was declined. — An application by Mr Heury Fletcher for a relaxation of the cropping conditions under tbe L,and for Settlements Act on allotment 11a, Puketapu, was granted under the exceptional circumstances, conditional on his sowing turnips (drilled); grass seed to be sown aftei wards with the wheat.

Tuapeka East. — An application by Mr Bernard M'Uann for a license to occupy part of the mining reserve in block 111, Tuapeka J<ast district, wasreferred to the rangiir for a lvport. Leaning It' Cit. — An application was received from Mr Thomas Wi'son /^ v »,iermis3ion to surrender his lease in perpetuity over fccction 15, block IV, Leaning Rock distiict. Ranger Atkinson furnished a report giving a valuation 'of'the improvements —It wos decided to accept surrender if the rent was paid up to'the 30th of June next.

Budlt.— Consideration of an application from Mr Janus H.iitstonge, jun , for a three yeava' extension of hi? pastoral license over sections 19, 20, and 21, block VI, Bu lie distiict, was deferred until the iun» &re being classified.

Valuations for Improvements.— The board authorised the payment of the following amounts received as valuation for improvements upon the undermentioned holdings respectively :- Section 102, Maerewhenua estate, £4 17s 61 ; section 11a, Puketapu, £3 153 (to be paid into the public account) ; stction 69, Maerewhenua, estate, £\0 16s ; Run 226 v, Gimmerburo, £7 2h 6d ; Rut 225 x, Gimmerburn, j£l2 lls ; Run 2ioz, Giniinerburn, £6163; Run 20!h. Po,lburn. £11 ss; section 17, block IX, Woodlands, £2 10s (to be paid into the public account).

Waihola.— A lettn 1 was read from Mr C. A. G. Hilgendorf, on behalf of Mr August Orlowski, with regard to sections 12 and 13, block XXI, town of Waihola. — It was lesolved that the sections be offered at auction as town land at an uiiset of .£5 per section, with valuation for improvements.

Maerewhenua.— An application from Mr J. T. M'Quade for a license to occupy section I, block XVI. Maerewhenua district, at present open as a small grazing run, was declined, and it was agreed to inform the applicant that as the run had not been applied for the board tvould have to reduce materially the valuation of improvements in order to find an applicant.

North Harbour and Blueskin.— An application from Mr Thomas Fitzgerald forpormission to graze cattle up >n section 50, block V, North Harbour and Blueskin district, was referred to the rauger to report.

Rock and Pillar. — An application from Mr Aaion Dyke for permission to acquire wit-hout competition stction 27. block I, Rock and Pillar district, was declined, and it was decided to inform Mr l)yke that the section would be open for application shortly - _ Waipori.— The board again took into consideration its decision with regard to the termination of the lease held by Mr John Lawson over 45 acres in block X, Waipori district— Jlessr3 Lawson and D->wdall (run holders) were both present at the nieetiug, and, after hearing them, the board resolved to withdraw the lejolufion previously passed, to the effect that Mr Luvsou's icense be not renewed afier tte expiry of the present term, Mr Lawson agreeing to fence in the area at his own cost.

Greenvale.— An application by Mr D<ni ; el O'Oonuor for a village homestead allotment, s ction 44, block IV, Grecnvale district, on lea'e in paipetuity, was approved. Lauder. — An application for leave to transfer the occupation with right of purchase license over section 49, block 111, Liuder district, from Isabella M'Oonald to Mr William M'Donald was approved.

Woodland. — The occupation with right of purchase license over section 16 block 111, Woodland distiict, held by Mr J F Findlater, was forfeited for nonpayment of rent, and the ranger was instructed to value the improvements aad suggest an upset.

Wantototo. — An application from the secretary of the Education Board to hive section 40 and part of section 41, block XI, Maniototo district (Komaka), set aside as a school site was received, and it was resolved to recommend that the site be reserved.
