A SYDNEY GALE.
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. Sydney, January 5. A heavy-blast of wind, lasting 12 minutes, I accompanied by a terrific downpour of rain, J .passed over Sydney last night. The wind > was at the rate of 71 miles an hour. Great : damage was done in the suburbs, unroofing many building*. The tannery at Waterloo | lose its roof 84ft long, which was carried 100 ' yards away. The Catholic Church at North ), Shore and the large pavilion on the Carringj ten ground were unroofed. No injuries t» j human beings are reported.
