THIRD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP.
The Oceaua met and defeated Mornington on the lattsr'a wicket by e'ghfc wickets. Scores : Mornington, 15 and 32 ; Oaeana, 40 and 8 for two wickets. For the Oceana Burkf secured eight wickets for 6 runs and three for 11, Grimaldi two for 8, and Campbell six for 16. Ross and Corniah bowled well for Morning-on. The Star defeated the Opoho by 76. Scores : Star, 132 (Shelton 26. Adkins 22, Spray 19, Newey 13 not out, Bennett 10); Opobo, 56 (Browne 13 not oat, Jack 10, Coombs 10). •'Mr Saunders" was the largest contributor to the Star's total, having 32 to his credit. Shelton (five for 19) was most successful with the ball for the winners, and Corbett, Coombs, and Scale (two for 3) for the Opoho. The Privateers defeated the C iversham at St. Cl&ir by 31 runs on the fl'sfc innings Scores : Privateers 63 (Black 13) and 21 for five wick9tt; Oaversham, 32. For the Prlvftteers Heley took three wickets for 4 ruut., and Delahnnty six for 11. Piddiu^ton and Mis-atl shared the bowlisg houours for Caveraham. Tho Granpe met aud defeated the Dnnedia No 1 on the Privateers' wickef, Asylum ground, by 30 ruus. Scoren: Grange 89 (Wylie 22, Sinclair 11, Price 10 : 'lur.' l, P" 1 r^mi'li 28). IVloroiugtou, IL3 (Howlsou 49, GUisttr 30, Neill 18) ; .Albion, 105 (Hay 33, Oummingß 26, Ireland 21). Gow and Howisoti for Mornington and Duthie and Ireland for Albion bowled well. The Roslyu met and defeated the University at Biahopsoourt on Saturday by 39 runs on the first innings Ronlyn batted first and made 75 ruus (Williamson 24 and F Davey 11). University followed and compiled 36 runs. R. Brown and S. Jnck*on for Roslyn and Wilkinson for ! Va'&ity bowled well for their respective ftide?. The match Dunedin No. 2 v. Cariabrook E, played at C*risbrook, resulted in a victory for the former by 18 runs. Scores : Dnnedin, 73 (Prebble 13. Melville 13, Sincock 10) ; Cansbrook, 55 (Haynes 28). Black and Wallace for Dunedin and Aitohicou and Haynes for Carisbrook were the mosb successful bowlers. The match Taieri v. Hendley. resulted in a win for the Taieri. Scores : Taieri, 68 ; Hendley, 62 For the Taieri Clarke (14), Hodges (13), Turubull (10), and for Hendley Cornish (30), Smith (10), and William*' (10) I were highest scorers.
