GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report under date October 16 :—
Prices ruled as followa at our auction sale today :—
Oats scarce. Prime 2s ; inferior, Is lOcl to Is lid (sacks extra).
Wheat.— Milling, 2s 9d to 2s lOd ; whole fowls' wheat, 23 4d to 2s 8d (sacks in). Potatoes firm. Dements, £4 15s to £5 2s 6d : (sacks in).
Chaff (oaten) scarce. Prime, £3 5s to .£3 12s 6d ; medium, £2 10s to £2 15s ; inferior, £1 5s to £1 10s (sacks extra). Pressed straw, 27s fid per ton.
DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS. Weekly Report.
Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—
A moderately large entry of horses was offered at our sale on Saturday. The demand was not very brisk for either draught or light horses, but the labter were saleable at prices rather in favour of buyers. The sales that were made were chiefly of medium to low-priced hacks and spring-cart horses, but buyers were also present for a few really good sorts of the former, which, had they been present, could have been placed at good prices. We quote : First-class draughts (extra heavy), £25 to £30 ; good ordinary do (young), £18 to £22 ; medium do, £12 to £16 ; aged do, £6 to £10 ; good hacks and harness horses, £12 to £16 ; medium do, £7 to £9 ; light and inferior do, £2 10s to £5
