MY TREASURES BEYOND.

Specially Writteft, for the Witness Christmas

Number of 1893.

One by one the links were broken } Ah 1 can I forget the pain — When the first bright gem was severed From the, brjght and golden chain? How I missed the childish prattle From the little voice so sweet, How I yearned to hear the patter Of my darling's tiny feet. Then Gpd's messenger from heaver* Came again, and yefc again, And I thought my heart was broken With the sorrowand the pain ; With the anguish and the yearning For a glimpse of faces dear, And the clasp of tiny fingers ; Ah 1 the pain is ever here. Joyous visions come before me— Childish laughter sweet I hear— Sunny smilts so soon to vanish, Gentle words to me how dear. Then I wake to find that only In my dreams my loved I see; But 1 know that over yonder They are all awaiting me. I shall find my dearest treasures Far away from strife arid sin, In a city pure and blessed, With the warmth of love within. , Find them when my father calls mo, When all suff ring here shall cease, To a home where all are happy, . To a land where all is peace. Oarnaru, Christinas 1892. •
