HENLEY.

December 17.— The annual break-up and distribution of prizes of the Henley School took place yesterday in the presence of a large number of the parents and friends of the pupils. Previous to the distribution the children sang some songs, and towards the conclusion a number of recitations were given. , Ml' H. Roxburgh, the chairman of the Committee, who distributed the prizes," complimented the teacher and pupils on the excellent percentage of passes which had been obtained at the recent inspector's examination, notwithstanding the loss of time to the school on account of being closed during the flood in the early part of theyear. He also drew attention to the peculiar circumstances of tho district, Which prevented many of the pupils from taking up home work for A good part of tho year. To each 6f the cnildf en who were not successful in obtaining a prize the committee gave a very nice book. Special prizes were presented by Mr J. Ilislop, Dunediu, and Mrs Greenwood, Henley. The following is the prize list :— Standard V— Alice Fergus 1, Lucy Latnont 2. Standard IV— Thomas Fergus 1, Isabella Baxter 2, John Hoddinott 3. Standard lll— Jessie Baxter 1, Agnes Dunlor 2, Arabella Sharp 3. Standard ll— Robert Sharp 1, Shaw Crosland and M. Kenny (equal) 2, Robert Roxburgh, John Gordon, and Allan Martin (equal) 3. Standard I— Williamina Dunlop, Katie Baxter, and Sarah Baxter (equal) 1, Puntian Baxter and Louisa Home (equal) 2, Thomas Arthur and Roderick Fraser (equal) 3. Before the children were dismissed for the holidays a large bag of lollies was given to each.
