LAND BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Land Board was held In the board's room, Government Buildings, on ;Wedneaday last. Present— the Chief Commissioner ( J. P. Maitland, Esq.), and Messrs Duncan, Dallas, Olark, and Thomson. Glenomabu.— Mr Peter King wrote stating, in reply to a request to show cause why hia lease of sections 83 and 01, block VIII, Glenomaru, should not be forfeited, that he arcs unaware that it was necessary <ft put on the improvements co soon ; he was now effecting them, aud -they would shortly be- ■ completed.— The letter was received. M-i.UNGATUA.-Mr W. M. ttichardson applied for the exclusive right to cut and remove flax from part of block XI, Maungatua district, adjoining sec* tions 1,2, 3, and 4, block X.— The matter was referred to the Domain Board. Kubiwao.— The board was requested to recommend Bun 24a, containing 890 acres, Kuriwao' district, for releasing as & pastoral run. It was decided to allow the matter to stand over till the adjoining land was dealt with. ' ■ Waihola.— The Inspector of< Police, reporting on the application of Thomas Andrews, asking that sections 6 and 7, block XVII, Waihola township, be offered for sale, advised that the sections' be cot sold, as they might be required at a future time.— Mi" Andrews' application was accordingly declined. Gbeknvale.— The board was requested to fix the term and rental upon which section 3, block XVII, Greeavale, should be offered for pastoral lease.— lt was decided that the land should be offered for a term of 10 years at an upset price of 4dper acre. Teviot.— Messrs John and Arthur Jones-applied through Mr Jabez Burton for a license to raise lignite on two acres of land adjoining their present areasection 11, block 11, Teviot.— License' granted for three years at £1 per acre, with a license fee of £10. Miq-Wakatipu.— Mr Francis M'Bride applied for a grazing right over sections 4 and 30, block VI, and sections 1, 2, and 3, block XIV, Mid-Wahatipu* on condition of keeping the land clear of rabbits; — The matter was ordered to be held over for further consideration. MoERAKt.—Mr Matthew Mortimer applied to rent section 15, block XVIII, Moerakl district, for grazing purposes.— Declined. GrLENKKNIOH.— Mr Digby Smith, on behalf of Mr Alexander Broch, applied to have deferred payment section 22, block V, Q-lenkenich. ■" revalued,—Consideration adjourned for report of ranger. Tuapeka.— Susan Dempsey applied for village settlement section 22, block XIV, Tuapeka district, on deferred payment,— License to istue. Waitahuka Wbst.— The administrator* in the estate of John Hughes applied for transfer of deferred payment section 2<>, block V, Waitahuna West, to Bdmond and Annie Hughes.— Deferred for a week to allow of payment of arrears of rent. Wabkpa.— The surrender of' perpetual lease sections 6, 7, and 8, block VII, and sections 7 to 11, block IX, was accepted, subject to payment of six months' rent due. Gbkenvalk.— Mr B. B. Martin (on bshalf of Thomas J. Collins) applied' to purchase about two acres of flood reserve 'block IV, Greenvale district.—. Beferred to the Tuapeka County Council to say whether any part of the flood reserve was available for surveying into small sections. St. Bathans.— Mr J, Ewing (for Robert Jones) applied to purohase residence area of la lr lp, block I, St. Bathans,— Beferred to warden to report. BI.X7JJ3KIN. — Mr M. Sullivan Applied to purchase on lease the flood reserve on blocks VII and VIII, Blueskin township, for willow growing,— Beferred to Waikouaiti Council to say whether there were any objections to the application.
