Sydney, September 16. The Metropolitan meeting is now oausing some little excitement, and the following are the latest quotations for the Great Metropolitan Shakes : — Pespot js being backed for small sums

at 100 to 30 ; Prince Imperial, 100 to 20 (off) ; The Broker, Silver King, and Honeydew, 100 to 10 (off) ; Tom Brown, 100 to'B (6ff) ; from 100 to 8 to 100 to 2 against any others. The following horses have been scratched : — Kingsdale, Glen Elgin, - Coolabah, Highland Mary, Cardigan, and Dagobert. It rained' heavily during the night, but is clearing up, and the weather is now favourable for training purposes. A number of horses were out this morning, but nothing of importance was done. Moonshee, Anglesey, Honeydew, and Tom Brown did serviceable gallops. Merlin and Wheel of Fortune have been scratched for the Great Metropolitan Stakes. The .betting remains unaltered.
