TO THE BRAUGHTS EDITOR.
Sin, — Having lately arrived in New Zealand, and being fond ot a quiet game of draughts, I took a glance at your Draughts Column, and i'elt interested in the play and criticisms on Game 070. X thought some ot the critics would succeed in making out a win for Black, but it seems to have been given up ior a draw. I may mention that a Sydney gentleman — Mr Thomas Reid, I think — had made out a win for White on the same game, in the Melbourne Leader. It. also appears in the Draught-players' Magazine as Game (59, where at the 2(3th move, there is a note inviting criticism. The following I>lay is my criticism of it, and should it prove correct, it might save Mr Keid or some of the other young Colonial players the annoyance ot having the White win put in from the opposite side of the board. By giving this a place in your interesting column yon will much oblige. A. Pahkhead Weaver. Dunedin, August Bth. GAME 73 1— "Glasgow."
