Eurasian next the rails showed the way from tho Chopette colt, Lonely, and Ebro, with Merry Duchess on, the right heading the others, who were whipped in by Loch Dhu. In this order they ran to the bend, when the Chopette colt joined Eurasian, and they came on from Lonely and Ebro to the distance, when Eurasian waß •beaten, and both Blitz 1 and Lady Katharine improved their positions. The favourite had no sooner been left in command than Lonely joined issue, and getting the best of it opposite the stand won in nice style by a neck ; a bad third : Ebro was close up fourth, clear of Blitz, Londonderry, and Silver Crown, with the pulling-up Eurasian laßt. The flag fell without a failure, and Leeds who was quickest out of tbe slips, made the running from Fraga, Eastern Emperor, and Magdalen, the others being headed by Beatrice for a quarter of a mile. The lead was then taken by Fraga, and her followers were Leeds, Beatrice, Magdalen, and Brag to the distance, where Energy tried for an opening. He was twice disappointed, andj wuh tha finish confined in consequence to Fraga and Leeds, the favourite got his head in front opposite tha stand, and won by a head ; two lengths between second and third. Energy and Brag finished at thn head of Magdalen, with Acrostic sixth, and Eastern Empire last. Time, lmin. 11 l-sfch see. The weight then began to tell upon the favourite, who was done with at the distance where Hauteur collared Perdita II who answered the challenge tamely, and was beaten hv a neck,; four lengths eseparated second and third.
