Donald Borrie.
(Died 22nd June, 1883; aged 73.)
Mr Borrie arrived in Otago in 1850 from tbe neighbourhood of Dunkeld, Scotland, and at once located himself in the West Taieri district as a flockowner. He was fortunate in his selection of some of the finest land about Outram — splendid alluvial soil yielding heavy crops of all descriptions. Although not taking an active part in public matters beyond the local Road Board, he possessed a considerable influence in his locality, and was highly respected. In church affairs he was prominent, and of late years devoted much of his attention to the study of the prophecies.
