Melbourne, June 28th. The local agent of the Peninsular and Oriental Steamship Company has received a telegram announcing that in consequence of the outbreak of Asiatic cholera at Damietta all vessels arriving from Egypt will be subject to three days' quarantine at Austrian, French, and Italian ports. In the case of Italian ports the regulations are the same as those made last year under similar circumstances. Juno 30. The Victorian revenue for the quarter ended June 30 amounted to £1,350,000, being a de crease of £29,000 as compared with the same [ quarter last year. The revenue for the past financial year amounted to £5,600,000, being an increase of £12,500 during the same period. The customs revenue haß increased by £74,250, and the excise returns decreased by £59,500, owing to the abolition of the beer duty. The territorial revenue decreased by £146,000. The revenue from railways increased by £123,000, and stamps by £18,250. Melbourne, July 3. The Melbourne manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company reports of the local grain market as follows : Shipping wheat continues dull at 4s lid to ss. Malting barley is steady, but not in active demand, at 5s 3d to 6s. New Zealand oats are in fair demand feeding sorts at 2s 9d to 3s Id, milling at 3s Id to 3s 3d. New Zealand oats (under bond) are slow of sale at 2s Id to 2s 4d. Bundoora has been scratched for the Melbourne Cup. Segenhoe, Morpeth, and The Drummer have also been scratched. Sydney, June 29fch. A large fire occurred this evening at Newcastle, by which the extensive premises belonging to Mesßrs John Ash and Sons, timber merchants, were totally destroyed. Mr Tophain, contractor for the Sydney Waterworks, was to-day stuck up near Camber by two armed men, who tied him to a tree ana robbed him of the sum of £1500. The robbers have since been captured by the police. July 2. Arrived, yesterday morning: Union Company's Manapouri, from Auckland. The New South Wales revenue for the June ; quarter shows an increase of 60,000 as compared with the corresponding quarter of last year. The revenue for last year was £393,000 greater than that during the year 1881-82. The two men— Egan and Scanlan— who were recently arrested for robbery from Mr Topham, the contractor for the Sydney waterworks at Camden, have been committed for trial. Au information for criminal libel has bean laid against the proprietors, of the South Australian Register in accusing the Government of gross corruption, especially in the adtninis tration of the land laws. A rule has been granted, returnable on July 10. Adelaide, July 3. A railway accident occurred to-day at Plyuipton, a workmen's train being run inte while coaling. Six men were severely injured.
