Blueskin.
The following matters werebrought up at the last meeting of the Waikouaiti County Council. We quote from the Palmerston and Waikouaiti Times :— A letter was read from Blueskiu Road Board re the subsidising of the Board in making a road to Mihiwika Railway Station as soon as the land is properly_ conveyed to the Board, referring the Council to a_ proclamation in the Gazette in reference to said road j also asking subsidy for work to be done on Beaohioad, and further that in consequence of the breakwater built by the Council the Board had been put to considerable expense in repairing damages done by the Waitaki creek.—Or Green moved—That the Council agree to subsidise the Blueskin Road Board to the extent of £1 for £1 up to £50; the work to be done under the supervision of the Inspector.—Cr Brunton seconded.—Or Kitchener moved as an amendment—That owing to the unsatisfactory information before ,the Council they do not see their way clear to spend money until such time as they had more satisfactory evidence and statistics in the matter.—Cr Todd seconded.—The amendment ,was lost, and the motion was put, when Or*< Todd moved an amendment—That the Inspector report on the road leading to the Slihiwaka Railway Station as to the cost of making same and the amount of traffic on said road.—Cr Kitohener seconded. Carried. Cr Green moved—That a subsidy of £1 for £1 up to £100 be granted to the Blueekin Road' ■Board for work to be done on the Beach road from the Town Belt, Port Chalmers, to the; Heads.—Cr Brunton seconded. Carried. Cr Green moved-That the clerk be instructed to reply to the Blueßkin Road Board to the effect that they are in error in stating that any work done by the County Counoil would lead to the result mentioned j and decline to grant any' money for the purpose of doing work asked in application; further that the Board bad no power to deal with such streams as the Waitati. —Cr Donaldson seconded. Carried.
