SCHOOL RESERVE COMMISSIONERS.

A meeting of the School Reserve Commissioners for the district of Otago was held in the Commissioners' office, National Bank buildings, on Tuesday afternoon. There were present: J. P. Maitland, Esq. (phaipnan), Messrs W. H. Pearson and A. C. The mlnutos of the former meeting were read and confirmed, and the following business transacted :— A report on Run 208, Wairaki, was received from Crown Ranger Mussen, and a map having reference to the same run from Mr J. S. Royds, who recommended that the land should be put in the market as soon as possible.-It was resolved to offer the run for lease, fn three subdivisions of 7853, 5505, and 12,322 acres, for the term of 14 years. Mr Royds reported that the survey of the reserve at Dipton was about completed.- It was decided to authorise Mr Royds to place the sections in the market for lease at an early date. On the application of Mr Basstian, permission was granted him to occupy Run 308 at a nominal rental until the land is leased. A circular from the Secretary of the Education Detmrtnient (Wellington) was read, which stated that the Government did not see its way clear to introduce a bill into Parliament empowering the Commissioners to dispose of reserves as requested, and also stating that the Government did not consider it necessary to introduce an amendment in the Education Reserves Act to provide for the payment of members. An application was received from Mr Peter Whitelaw for the lease of section 6, block XLVII, Clutha district —It was decided to offer the section, with any others in the district, for lease at an early date. A letter was received from the manager of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., applying on behalf of Mr M'Nab for the use of Run 111 between the date of the expiry of the lease and the time of reletting.—As the lease in question docs not expire until March 1882, the Commissioners simply promised that the application should be considered in due course. From the Chief Surveyor a letter was received Btating that the survey map of Run 88 could not be relied on, and recommending that the Commissioners get the land at Wyndham, recently referred to by the Messrs Park, Crown-granted, in order to facilitate any alterations that might be necessary in future subdl MM Br°Wm.8 r°Wm. Harrison, of the Taieri Ferry, applied for the lease of a section in the township of Beauly for seven years.— lt was resolved to include the section referred to with other sections to be offered for lease 8 Th/ciiAiRMAN reported that in accordance with instructions received at a meeting held on the 20th of April last, he had called for tenders from the different banks for conductingthe Commissioners' banking business.—After consideration, it was resolved to continue the Commissioners' banking account with the Bank of New Zealand. Mr James Gall (Dunedin) requested the Commissioners to cancel his lease over 640 acres of the Education Reserve, Run 327, and to lease the same to himself and partner for a term of 21 years.— The Commissioners instructed the Secretary to inform the applicant that they wore willing to cancel the lease as requested without compensation, and to put the 640 acres to auction in the usual manner. It was resolved to offer the unlet sections in tne township of Outram for 21 years. Accounts amounting to £59 12s 6d were passed for payment.
