OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the working committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at Wain's Hotel op. the evening of the 3rd, Mr Brydone in the chair.

A letter was received from the Secretary of the Waikouaiti and Blueskiu Entire Horse Company stating that the Company, being desirous of stimulating a healthy competition in the breeding of draught stock, had resolved to offer to the Association a LlO 103 cup, to be competed for at the ensuing show aud decided in favour of the sire whose progeny should carry the greatest number of points in one, two, and three year olds of all classes or sections of draught stock of those ages — first prizes to count three points ; second, two j and third, one point. — It was resolved to acknowledge the communication with thanks, and to carry out the suggestions contained in it. The Committee of Management of the Taieri Agricultural Society forwarded copies of resolutions passed at a meeting held on the 26 A of September as follow : — " That a committee of the Taieri and Otago Agricultural Associations meet on as early a date as may be appointed to consider the basis of uniting both societies — the show-ground to be at Mosgiel, and the Taieri committea to be the president (Mr Jas. Robert son), the vice-president (Mr James Shand), and Messrs Samuel Young, Peter Grant (Gowrie), and Donald Reid, to report at next general meeting, which shall be advertised, and due notice given to all members o£ the Association." " That you be asked to fix a date on which the two committee shall meet." — It was decided to hold a full meeting of committee on Thursday to consider the matter. It was mentioned that the N.Z.L. and. M.A. Company intended to give a cup to the Association as a prize, probably for sheep, Messr M'Nally, Gourley, Patrick, W. Cunningham, Smith, and Maclean were appointed members of the Yard Committee.

A number of gentlemen were appointed to collect subscriptions, and it was decided to confer with the Dunedin Jockey Club as to the sale of boothsIt was understood that the committee should in future meet every Thursday evening.
