Waste Lands Board ,

The ordinary weekly meeting of the Waste Lands Board was he! d on Wedne sday, when there were present:n t : Messrs J. P. Maitland (chairman), J. Green, J. B Bradshaw, C. 8. Reeves, and H. Clark. The following business was transacted :

SAW-MILL LICENSE

An application hy Messrs Uonnoll and Moo r io, on behalf of Mr W. T. Macfarltne, to obtain saw-mill license over 60 acres of block ]X, Rankleburn, a-id SO acres of same block, known as " Small Bush," was refer ed to the Ranger for report.

QUARRY LIOBNBE,

Mr R Wilson applied for a license to quarry stone on temporarlly-reserved *oad»nne. on section 4,8. block HI, Oamwu,— Declined.

DBEPDELL BO AD BOARD

A letter was read from Messrs James Haratonge, Duncan Macrae, and Jamei Harstonge, Jan., asking the Board to reverse its decision relative to tho exception of a road to section 3, bock 11, Budle, from the rends approved by the Board as tho c ou which de-ferred-payment money could be spent. The writers stated that Mr Fraser, chairman of the Road Board, had not >poken truly when he said it was the wish of that body that the expenditure should not be sanctioned They r< quested that the Lands Board would treat Mr FraserV incorrect report aa it detorved, and would sanction the road spoken of. CHATTON.

Mr Thomas Hunter asked that the Board should fix the price of an acre granted to him in section 21, block Xf, Ohatton.— Frice fixed at £2 per acre.

BANNOCKBURN.

Mr Charles Colclouu'h, on behalf of Mr Charles Peake, asked that 'he burveyed township of Eannockburn should be ofEered for sale, so that Mr Peake should be allowed to purchase the section on which his hotel stands — It was agreed to effor the townahip for sile when convenient, the price of sections being reduced from £10, at which they were previously offered, to £7 10s

ROCK AND PILLAR.

Tho application of James Wngley to be allowed to suvroiiHer his deferred-payment lease over section 7, block XU, Rock and Pill-tr district, was granted.

RUN 328.

On behalf of Mr John M'Kellar, the N Z.L. and M. A. Company asked that the rent of Run 328 should be reduced to £ 176 from the amount at present charged — namely, £247. — The request was declined.

WYNDIIAM

An application was made by ilcasrs Noble and Sodd to purchase the reserve line of a water-race running through their properties ; but this application was objected to by a Mr Burns, who stated th->t the race was uatful to him in sluicing for gold, and that possibly, in the event of hard times, it would give employment to a number of men.

The Surveyor reported to the Board that he had visited the race, in which no water had run for years, and which waa now ploughed up and sown in English grass. As there waa evidently some misunderstanding on ths part of either the Surveyor or Mr Burns, the Boaid decided to ask Ranger Campbell to report.

BLUE SPUR.

A letter was received from Mr T. F. MorrU relative ti a piece of land held by \im at Blue Bpur, and which is being asked for by the Education Board as a school reserve.

The matter was referred to the Chairman to communica 1c1 c with the Education Board as to whether an arrangement can be come to with Mr Mcrris, or another site selected.

HOGBURN,

The following were granted an application to purchase residence areas held by them at Hogburn,.the consent of the runholder having been obt lined: — Robert M'Litchy, section 12, and W. D. Miller, section 13, block I, Naseliy,

DEFERRED PAYMENTS

The following applications tj lease were granted :—: — T. White, section 69, block VII. Waipahl; John Beatie, section 10, block I, Glankenicb. ; Jehn Harvey, section 10, block 11, Chatton. To purchase : -Wm Sleigh, Bection 17, block I, Glonkomch.

POLIOB RESERVE AT WYNDH^M.

Portion of the block reserved for railway purposes at Wyndham to tho extant of 3 acres 3 roods 10 polt s, vras recommended to be reserved for police purposes, the Public Works Department stating it would not be rt quired for railway purposes.

SILVER PEAK.

Plans of block I to IX, recently surveyed, were laid on the table, and the Chairman asked the Board to determine in what way the land shonld he dealt with.

The opinion was generally expressed that no demand existed in the meantime for the land, and the matter was allowed to stand over for further consideration.

MBRTON HUNDRED.

The Board resolved that tho unsold portions of block V, Waikouaiti, should he offered at auction at 20a per acre, the same having been open for application for hix months.
