Oh, father's gono to market town ; he wu up before the day, And Jamio's after robins, and tho man li making hay, And whistling down tho hollow goos the boy that minds the mill While mother from the kitchon door is calling with a "Polly !— Polly !— The cows are in tho barn ! Oh, where'a Polly V Prom all the misty morning air there comei a Summer sound — A murmur as of waters from ekles, and trees, and
ground. The birds they sing upon tho wing 1 , the pigeons bill and coo, And over hill and hollow rings again the loud halloo — " Polly ! — Polly !— The cows are in tho corn I Oh, where's Polly V Abovo the trees tho honey-bees swarm with buzz »nd boom, And in the field and garden a hundred flowers bloom. Within the farmor'« meadow a brown-eyed daisy blowi. And down at tho edge of tho hollow a red aud thorny roio. But Polly I— Polly !— Tho cowi aro in tho corn ! Oh, where's Polly ? How strange at such a time of day the mill ihoulditop Its clatter t Tho farmer* wifo ii listening now, and wonders what'i the matter. Oh, wild birds are singing In tho wood and on tho hill, While whistling up the hollow goes the boy that minds the mill.
