Immigrants for New Zealand.
A Hobart telegram to., the. " Sydey Evening News " of Deoember 11 spates: 'V.Bjy. e^jr steamer from London to New Zealand hundreds of immigrants are proceeding there, taking advantage of the offer of the Government of that colony to come out on a £10 passage, providing they have £50 besides. By riie lonic 550 were passengers for New Zealand, and an f Evening News ' representative spoke to several of them, and inquired what inducements had been offered. They spoke m eulogistic terms of the way m which the oolony was being advertised m England, its possibilities, etc being couched m flowery language, immigrants m the way of supplying information, and by meeting them aa regards their passages out. They asserted that Australia*, with all its Agents-General, was not reaching the people for immigration. There were thousands only waiting a fair opportunity to come out to settle on the land, but they oouM not hear anything about the country. They 1 had only heard of Tasmania/they said, by means of geography books..
