OTAUTAU v. RIVERTON.
The first match between the above teams was played at Otautau on Wednesday, when, despite the inclement weather, a good game was wit, nessed. .Riverton winning the toss, decided to bat, and sent m W. Scobie. and P. Inkstone to face the bowling of Durham and Dimmoek. With the exception G. Bailey (17) and Raynor not out (23 j the other batsmen failed to make any stand, and 1 the innings closed for 69, Otautau having thus 7Q runs to make to win, and on going i_* to bat, they succeeded m passing the. required number by three, the innings closing for 78, which left them victorious by the narrow margin bf 4 runs. For the winners Gunn (12), Mclvor (24) and 0. Evans (12) shower} good form, and for the losers G* Bailey (17) and Raynor (26 not out) were the most successful. Following are the scores ; RIVERTON. w.
