A Juvenile Scamp.

...;... *:....*.. — ■ i • - ' ■ At the Ranglora Magistrate's Court, ~bTT Tuesday last, Ern«st Albert Frame, aged 14, a Burnham Industrial School boy, licensed i out to a resident, admitted two oharges of I interfering with the railway track— Rangiora and Oxford. In August a spike was found wedged into the joint of rails on the line, and a linemen's trolley was derailed by it. Next month an attempt was mad* to derail a train - on the same line with a piece of metal weighing several pounds. The culprit, luckily, was seen on this occasion. The Magistrate held that he had no power to order tbe boy to be returned to tbe school, and, although the case was brought under the Criminal code, and the penalty was 14 years' imprisonment, he could not reasonably send the boy for trial. The facts, however, oould be reported to the Minister for Education. The boy's employer undertook to take charge of him for a week, pending a reply from the Minister.
