From Baptist to Anglican.
On Saturday last, the Rev. John r Muirhead, minister of the Baptist church at Invercargill, left by the express to join the "Corinthic" at Wellington, whictvwas announced to leave that port for London on Wednesday morning. At a social during that week a purse ot 45 sovereigns had been presented to him by the Baptist, congregation. It appears from a contemporary that Mr Muir, head's purpose m returning Home is to take orders m the Church of England. Six months "ago, through a mistake having been pointed out to him m a well known Baptist treatise he was led into an exhaustive study of the subject of baptism, and thir led him into the adoption bf paedo* baptist views. Mr' Muirhead has declared that he never was satisfied with the independency r>f Baptist Church organisation, so That, when his views on baptism changed, he began to study on the subject of church government, and this has led him to the Church of England '1 hree months ago he wrote to one or two English Bishops about ordination, and from replies received by last 'Frisco mail he expects to be ordained next taster. While he looks forward joyfully to this change it is not without a feeling of regret hat he foresakes his old. friends,
