Otautau Lawn Tennis Club.

Another of the very enyoyable progressive euchre socials, promoted by the Tennis Club, took place m the Town Hall, on Wednesday evening last, and was very largely attended, 15 tables being m full play. Miss Prendergast succeeded m winning the first prize for the ladies, and Mr J. Cameron j the gentleman's. A first-class concert programme occupied the first part of the evening. Mesdames McLaren and Walton contributed the pianoforte duet, with which they were successful m taking the honour of the first prize at the recent competitions m Invercargill, Mrs Cupples and Miss Saunders sang a duet, and Miss Gibbon and Mr Sheargold also rendered songs, which were greatly appreciated. Refreshments, tastefully laid out on small tables, at which the guests sat m groups, according to the partnership of the last game of euchre played, were served by members of the Tennis Club. The committee of the club were untiring m their efforts to make everyone at home, and, when the short dance which followed the supper, was ended, it was the unanimous opinion that they had thoroughly succeeded.
