ONE BIG UNION
GOVERNMENT VERSUS LABOUR PARTY. (Fbom Oub Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, July IS. When Mr M. J. Savage's Industrial Conciliation and Arbitratioff Bill was before the House for its second reading to-day, Sir William Henries roused the Labour Party by suggesting that lie scented in this Bill «. proposal for One Big Union. That, ho said, was a very dangerous principle. They saw it in the Old Country now, dictating to the Home Government a question of (general policy. There could, said Sir William, not bo two parties ijoverning tho country, and his Government would never allow outside bodies to govern the country. 'Mr Holland: We'll get rid of you some day. Sir William Horries: The lion, member will have to wait, and when his time comes he will let no one dictate to him.—(Laughter.) There cannot be two governments in a country.
Members of tho Labour Party emphatically repudiated the suggestion that there was any suspicion of One Big Union in tho Bill. Mr Howard said it was a ease of one big "onion" bringing tears to the eyes of the Government when they became afraid of all the unions petting- together.
