lPu United Priss Absociatio*.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 15. Tho Conciliation Council met to consider the claims of tho Clerks' Union regarding wages of clerks engaged by local bodies. A complete agreement was arrived at except on the question of wages, and an adjournment wins granted till tho 28th inst. to enable tho union to discuss the following offer:—That the minimum weekly -wage for a olork over 24 years of age, with five years' experience, \be £4 4s, plus a 6a bonus; aod over 30 years, with 10 years' experience, £4 10s, plus the bonus. Reserved judgment was "given by Mr S. •E. M'Oarthy, S.M., in the case of Francis Alfred Moody versus Christchurch branch, of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters. Tho union £19 10s, being one month's wages in lieu of notion. Plaintiff, who was organiser for the society, in defiance of the branch executive, though with the authority of members of the union, took three months' leave of absence. _ Subsequently his election as district organiser was declared void by tho branch executive, and on his return from leave he was refused admission to the union's offiop, or aocesa to its books by the branch executive. His Worship held that the superseding of plaintiff was void, and gave judgment in his favour for £18 13s 4d and costs.
