COAL-MINING INDUSTRY
GRADUAL ADJUSTMENT TAKING PLAGE. (Peb United Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, Juno 17. . Fair progress has been made towards a settlement of all the troubles which threatened the coal mines of tho dominion recently. When the conference of tho men and the owners proved abortive, the employers announced that the offer which the men's delegates rejected would be left open for a time to the unions individually. Several unions have acoepted the offer, and agreements have been concluded at some places. Tho following unions have already nettled on the terms offered by the mineowners at conference : —Taupin, Bukemiro, Waipa, Denniston, Millerton, Westport, Stockton, Papaxoa, and Kantangata. Important mines not in this list aro Blackball, State, Green Island, Nightcaps, Brunner, and Pnponga. But though there is no information regarding the progress of affairs at those mines, if- is beb'oved that settlements aro pending: at some of them.
