In the Davis Cup' preliminary tie Brookes and Wilding (Australasia) defeated- Kreutzer and Froitzheim (Ger many) in tho Doubles, 6—l, 6 —l, 6—2. The Australasians again proved their superiority, whipping their German opponents with the greatest ease, and permitting them to win only four games. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance.
The Australasians have now defeated the Germans in three events, and the latter thus drop out of the trials.

Wilding, playing from the back of the court, easily defeated Froitzheim, 6—3, 6—4, 6—2.
BROOKES BEATS KREUTZER. NEW YORK, July 31.

Brookes readily bested Kreutzer, who varied the monotony by taking a. single set. Scores: 6—4, 6—2, 6—B, .6—2.
