A GENEROUS OFFER FOR THE CHILDREN.
Messrs A. Lorie and Co. are making a generous offer, the acceptance of which will probably place 5000 or more school children in the possession next Saturday of souvenirs of the interesting occasion which-will."then be celebrated. They are prepared, on the application of the chairman of the school committees in and around Dunedin, including Port Chalmers, and in the case of parochial or Catholic schools of the clergyman or bishop, to present free of charge a national badge to every pupil in the schools. Application must be made by to-morrow night by those committees which desire to participate in the gift. The offer is also extended to the Industrial School. In their letter to the Organising Committee, Messrs Lorie and Co. write:—"We keenly appreciate your very kindly acknowledgment of our little effort [600 pairs of socks presented], which has encouraged us to go one better. AYe have offered to supply the school children of Dunedin and surrounding boroughs with a ribbon national badge free of charge, and, if you don't minrl n, suggestion from us, we would ask you to consider whether all these children in procession would not be a feature on Saturday." ;
